Michelle’s Wedding Story….

Comments Off

Written By Michelle…

I met my now husband, Phil, in 2002 in a bar in Manchester….

I walked in and saw the 6’5″ hunk and went over and pinched his bum.

We stayed friends for a year, then in summer 2003 he asked me on a date. We dated from then on and I totally fell in love with him.

He met my son and they hit it off, it was meant to be. Phil was going away to Australia on a family holiday at Xmas and I knew I would miss him, but I didn’t realise how much.

I knew I wanted to be with Phil…so I planned that in Feb 2004 as it was a leap year I Would propose to him.

The morning of 29th Feb we woke up, I made breakfast in bed and asked Phil to marry me…I was unsure what his thoughts were as he just looked at me shocked…but…he said yes.

We started planning the wedding for the following summer and I was in my element, I loved every minute of it.

We decided on a civil ceremony as neither of us went to church, even though Phil was catholic he hadn’t been since school and I didn’t go at all.

We started to look at various types of venues and decided that a hotel was right for us. We found one near to where Phil was from and it was lovely so we booked it for July 16th 2005.

I made all the invitations, table names, table plan and center pieces. I had a lilac colour and Lilly theme as they are my favourite flowers. I named all my tables after different Lilly’s.

My dress was pale gold in colour from Maggie Sottero, it was quite plain with detail on the bodice and down one side of the wrap over effect on the dress.

On the day, I was so excited I woke up at 7.30 opened the curtains praying for sun there it was. It was lovely being pampered in the morning I had my hair and makeup done.

I had a delivery from Phil and it was a Tiffany box I opened it and inside was a beautiful bangle I had seen on our holiday the previous year, I was so emotional. I couldn’t wait to marry him.

Dad & Granddad made bacon butties and I sat and drank bucks fizz with my mum, sister and gran it was lovely. I didn’t wish for the next part to happen as I wanted to enjoy each moment as it happened.

It was so exciting getting into my wedding dress and I was quite calm.

I felt like a princess and I was so excited to marry Phil.

When the car came to collect me, I started to get nervous and as I sat in the car with my dad and son I was so happy I had huge butterflies in my stomach.

I arrived at the venue and nerves really hit me. I did start to shake a little but dad told me it would all be ok and we started to walk down the isle.

As I saw people smiling back at me, the nerves just disappeared, I saw Phil at the end of the isle and I nearly cried.

I managed to hold it together as we said our vows and there could have been 100 people in the room I wouldn’t have noticed as I just concentrated on declaring my love.

We had photo’s taken and then descended on the reception room for the wedding breakfast.

The room looked lovely just how I wanted it simple and elegant. We decided to have the speeches before the meal as Phil was so nervous. They got underway and it was lovely listening to them and everyone did so well. After the meal we did the present giving to thank our parents and the bridesmaids and the best man.

Once again my husband surprised me after he gave all the presents out he pulled out a bag from under his chair another Tiffany box inside, it was a matching necklace to the bangle I opened earlier. I was so shocked I cried he made me the happiest woman that day.

We went into the evening reception and it was so nice to have all our friends and family there celebrating with us. We danced our first dance to Al Green lets stay together and we were so happy.

We danced the night away with our friends and family and I loved every minute, I enjoyed seeing people enjoy our wedding day and how happy they were too.

We have been married 8 years now and I still get butterflies when I think about our wedding day.

Michelle..

“On behalf of everyone who attended the wedding, I would like to thank Tigerlily so very much for providing the most perfect crèche service Jack and I could ever have hoped for. The staff were immaculately dressed, discrete and charming at every turn. Sam and Isaac, my two sons and all their friends had just the best time and at the end of the day I had to force them to leave Lucy and her wonderful team. Thanks Lucy”

“Tigerlily mobile crèche were recommended to me by a friend and my goodness they delivered. Our annual conference at The Gravetye Manor was the most successful we’ve ever held. Every single director and partner attended because childcare was available to those who needed it. Tigerlily’s themed crèche was so warmly received by the children who all want to come back next year. I’ve never seen so many happy faces – and I am not only talking about the children! We’ve already booked Tigerlily mobile crèche for next year’s event.”

“Tigerlily aren’t like other childcare companies we’d worked with. For a start they listened to everything we said, they even allocated an event planner (thanks Lucy) who helped us with absolutely everything from day 1 through to organising the clean up at the end. Tigerlily’s staff on the day were so friendly and well presented - our client was delighted and has insisted we use Tigerlily in future – which of course we will.”

Choosing Your Perfect Wedding Dress…

Comments Off

As soon as the engagement is official, start looking for your wedding dress. This will allow you to choose the right dress and get any alterations done if needed.

Try on as many dresses as need be and don’t ever feel pressured to buy one that you are not completely happy with. This is one area that you may go over budget with but you will be wearing this dress for the whole day and you want to feel as comfortable as possible.

Weddings do not have to cost an absolute fortune but it is worth setting a budget to keep spending a little under control. If you overspend on one thing, then reduce the cost on another. It’s as simple as that.

When choosing your dress, remember to try and take somebody that will be totally honest with you. Mums do tend to think you look gorgeous in every dress you try on. It’s just a mum thing!

Think about how your hair will be on the day to what sort of back the dress has. You don’t want to have lots of detail if you have long hair and plan to have it down on your special day. Likewise, if your hair is to be up, how low can the back of the dress be and will you need to re-think your underwear to avoid straps showing?

Once you have your dress, you can start deciding on bridesmaids, if you are having any and then shop for their dresses.

A Snowy Wedding Day…??

Comments Off

If you have decided to get married in the winter, then there is a chance you will get the magical white wedding. By this I mean snow!

So, you’ve woken up, looked outside and there is a blanket of snow on the ground! What do you do?

Don’t panic!

Some people dream of having snow falling on their wedding day but even if it is a dream, there are some precautions you need to think about.

Firstly, you do not want to be slipping over! Rough up the underneath of your wedding shoes so they grip better whilst walking or consider wearing some welly boots while outside. There are many lovely designs to choose from.
Ring your wedding car hire and ask them to arrive at your home a little earlier than planned to ensure that you can get to the venue on time.
Ask someone to check the traffic that is the route to your venue. This will help with arriving on time or changing the route.
Make sure that your venue has its heating turned on and is good working order. A cold venue for your guests to wait in is not good.
Ring ahead to the venue to make sure that the entrance that you will be walking up is clear of any snow or ice. Do not forget to ask them to put appropriate amounts of grit down in various areas so your guests are safe too.
Make sure that guests are not standing in the cold for too long. Ask the venue if guests can go into the function room while photos are being taken outside.
Choose an usher to collect the required people for photos at the appropriate times so they are not waiting around in the cold.
Think about ordering yourself and your bridesmaids a wedding shawl or wrap to keep warm.
