Introducing Chakra Cakes…

Comments Off

Written by Sarah…

Chakra Cakes are an original concept created by Sarah Wilkinson in the Summer of 2012.

They embody seasonal organic, local and Fairtrade nutrition, crystal energy and bespoke flavours for the consumer.

The idea to create these naturally balanced and energetically empowered cakes came to Sarah at a time when she felt compelled help the healing process in others through something enjoyable and different from other more traditional methods of energy healing.

They offer an alternative to overtly sugary and fat laden cakes and cupcakes and have the added quirk of being related to the Chakras.

The Chakras (Wheel in Sanskrit) are energy centers or vortexes on the body where fresh energy can enter in and old stagnant energy can be flushed out to create harmony and balance within the person.

This has many benefits both physically, mentally and spiritually as each chakra relates to various organs and systems within the body and also to our energetic bodies - auras etc.

All Chakra Cakes are vegetarian and have the option of being made gluten and dairy free and Sarah will happily make bespoke wedding cakes and cupcakes working with your wedding flowers for that unique taste and experience.

Sarah also offers the option of having a bespoke Wedding Day tea blend to go with your cakes or as a favour for your guests.

Choosing A Fab Wedding Cake

Comments Off

Tip kindly donated by Rachel at Simple Elegance.

Wedding cakes are a real focal point of any wedding, aside to what the bride is wearing and how the rest of the wedding party are looking, people cannot wait to see what wedding cake the bride and groom have chosen.

For such an important thing I suggest the following points to be vital.

  • Choose someone who has a portfolio of their work, someone who can offer independent testimonials of previous work.
  • I think a genuine passion for cake making and decorating is a must, someone who is not overly enthusiastic should not be trusted with such an important part of your day.
  • Friendliness is a must and also someone who is willing to listen to what you, the bride and groom want, but also offer their own ideas.
  • I find once you mention the word ‘wedding’ prices seem to triple, I believe in offering excellent and tasty cakes but at reasonable prices, I for one truly love baking and making cakes, I find it very therapeutic and enjoyable. I feel honoured whenever a bride and groom choose me for such an important part of their wedding day. Which is why my prices are always competitive and more than fair as well as realistic.
  • Also try before you buy, where possible ask to taste, anyone can claim to bake or even decorate but the proof in the pudding is in the eating. Just because a cake looks good doesn’t mean it tastes good.

Choosing Your Wedding Shoes

Tip kindly donated by Pauline at Wedding Toppers.

Your wedding shoes will be a very important aspect to how you feel on the day so here are a few simple tips to help you prepare:

  • Always give your wedding shoes a ‘test run’ otherwise you may find yourself with sore feet and even worse blisters during your wedding reception and the last thing you want is to be a limping bride on your special day.
  • Start off indoors walking on the carpet and then on tiled and/or wooden floors.
  • Practice sitting down and getting up then go outside into the garden and walk on grass, cobbled stones and loose stones.
  • By walking on as many different surfaces as possible and getting used to your wedding shoes, your feet won’t be given such a shock on the big day and you can be wobble free and elegant in your high heels.

Wedding Cake - Choices to Think About

Comments Off

One major photo opportunity at your wedding will undoubtedly be the cutting of your cake.

So how do you choose what type and design for your special day?

One point to remember is that the photos of your cake will be with you for a long time, so go for a design that reflects you and your new spouse.

The designs are endless and the choices of fillings now are great.

There are many professional bakers, but these can tend to be expensive so if you are on a tight budget for this part of your wedding, ask around friends and family. Someone usually knows at least one person that bakes.

For our wedding, we had a close friend make ours. We bought the ingredients and decorations and she baked and decorated it as our wedding present.

If you are having a professional make your cake, ask for samples before the day so that you are happy with the taste and texture which are both very important.

Discuss your requirements with them and give them as much detail as possible on the other aspects of your day.

Also, if you are having flowers on your cake, try to take in a sample of the colours of dresses etc so they can be easily matched.

You will also need to decide on what type of cake recipe you will have.

Fruit, sponge, plain, chocolate?

It is sometimes nice to go with both so your guests have a choice.

Then, finally, choose your decorations, icing and the most important cake topper. These can be comical or traditional and can be a defining talking point.
Good luck.
